Dailies: Breakdown #2
Today I’m sharing a shot that has actually surprised me with the way that the camera handled the exposure and the sharpness of the tops of the grass. It impresses me every time that I look at this shot. I was out for a mind-clearing drive through the country with the windows down and the sounds of The Black Keys coming through the speakers when I spotted this tall grass out of the corner of my eye as i checked for traffic at the only four-way-stop in miles. Gets me thinking that this shot might be a little bit of fate, if you believe in that stuff. Read more after the jump…

Dailies: Breakdown #1
Welcome to the first of a new series of blog posts entitled: “Dailies: Breakdown #”
This is a self assessment, critique, and discussion about a certain photograph from my Dailies collection of photographs. In no particular order I wish to simply share what I was thinking and seeing when I took the photo. How it works and doesn’t work as a picture, what I would change if I could shoot it again.
The Dailies series has been a very large amount of fun for me so far. There is a certain amount of satisfaction looking back at some of these pictures, other times there are bittersweet moments of life.

DetailsGreen Bay Senior Portraits, Ava – Class of 2012
Introducing the beautiful Ava, a 2012 high school senior from Green Bay Notre Dame. She came to me wanting something that would be unique and would be something other than the “standard” look of senior pictures. We decided to use the exterior of her dad’s architect studio as well as a few other locations that I had carefully scouted before her session. Finding unique locations to match each session’s vision is a high priority and is what truly makes the senior portrait experience that much more memorable. See more pictures and read more about Ava’s session after the jump…

Why I Am In Love With This Black Box, My Camera

When they ask what my one true love is; I tell them my Camera. My Camera and I have been through more life changing, eye-opening and landmark moments together than anything in my life.

Details4th of July Street (Beach) Portraits

I have always been inspired by Clay Enos’ street portraits and the ease that he handles the random subjects. The amount of interesting people who I met while spending a few hours on the beach and lakefront yesterday was a great time. Taking some impromptu portraits was pretty cool in itself, but how nice everyone was about it was humbling. I think that less than a handful of people declined politely, everyone else was “ready to be famous” as one guy put it.
